  if we keep dishing out cash, to pay for all of our wonderful new light and spiritual food, have we, in return, actually only been fed garbage?.

  example.. when they tell us not to bring up anything in older publications, because it is no long considered "the truth"(tm), was it ever the truth(tm)?.

  have we been strung along for 130 years, on imitation food, masquerading, as real food?.

  it is produced by gregorio smith.

  he was raised in the jehovah's witness religion, and shows this movie from that point of view.

  WATCHTOWER IN A PANIC!

  jws are in need of more kingdom halls in many major u.s. cities.

  at this years agm where it is expected that most of the faithful will be able to listen to the meeting (being tied in by video), dont be surprised if the wts 8 gb members take part in a symposium delivering some long winded appeal, petition, plea, proposal, proposition, solicitation or otherwise hit-on the masses for $$$ in order to lighten the burden and overuse that many kingdom halls are experiencing.

  an acquaintance from the west coast mentioned to me that in late august thru early september of this year that a number of pow-wows involving close to 5,000 elders from numerous areas (riverside, los angeles, ventura and orange counties) took place to drum up financial support from the 800+ (not sure) congregations in those areas.

  It's time to get pissed off people!! Rise Up!! Vote with your pocket book! If you pay the bills in your family, then NOW is the time to start fighting back!! Send a message!! Stop contributing in any way, shape, or form! Help individual people with you funds, start an emergency fund for your familly, get out of debt! Just stop giving it to a greedy corporation that kicks it's Elderly and it's Bethelites to the curb, and feeds and houses no one, and expects YOU to pay them for the blessing if being their slave! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!

  then what do the gb get out of all this?.

  tim cook (ceo apple) makes around 378 million a year.. donald trump makes around 60 million a year.. i understand the wbts may have vast property holdings, stocks, bonds, and revenue from donations.. but i can't grasp the incentive for the gb to make this stuff up.

  There's no need to assume they know it's a scam and are acting in bad faith. They are products of the system themselves; enthusiastic salesmen who got promoted to VP positions.

  Oh they are most definitely products of the system. I happen to believe the system in which they operate caters to the disingenuous.
  
  I accept the possibility that one or all of the GB are deluded souls who believe their own BS; I think it much more likely they are the snake oil salesmen they appear to be.

  Does anyone doubt the GB does exactly this?

  In Crisis of Conscience, Ray Franz exposed the Governing Body's practice of voting on doctrinal changes, whereby a two-thirds majority would result in a doctrinal change. Personally, I can't help but wonder what the deal was with the remaining third of the GB. Weren't they also appointed by "holy spirit"? Were they not equal members of the "faithful slave"? Did they perhaps forget to tune in to "God's Channel of Communication" that morning?
  
  Again, I recommend Crisis of Conscience to anyone considering these types of questions about the Governing Body.

  hi Syntax, welcome.

  As pointed out by others, the GB members have NO QUALIFICATIONS to act as a CEO or any high level executive position in any legitimate large scale corporation. Those mega-million dollar jobs you mention aren't even a remote possibility for them and they know it.
  
  That being the case, they ARE cashing in COMPARED TO HOW THEY WOULD BE LIVING IF THEY WERE NOT PART OF THE GB. They are SET FOR LIFE, which they most certainly would not be apart from their GB gig. Controlling the lives of millions of people is just gravy.

  I recommend reading Crisis of Conscience by [former GB member] Raymond Franz. He does a great job of pulling back the curtain on the governing body.

  Those verses perfectly describe the Watchtower Society. I would add Ephesians 4:14:
  
  So then, we may no longer be children, tossed like ships to and fro between chance gusts of teaching and wavering with every changing wind of doctrine, the prey of the cunning and cleverness of unscrupulous men, gamblers engaged in every shifting form of trickery in inventing errors to mislead.   However, this brings me back to my original point about the subjective nature of doctrine. As Adam mentioned, no JW will accept these verses as applying to the Watchtower Society, regardless of how well the shoe fits to an objective observer. To the JW, the verses DO NOT apply. But the fact that the Watchtower Society has lied and is therefore a LIAR ORGANIZATION cannot be disputed. At the very least, every JW has to walk away with the knowledge that the Watchtower Society is teaching lies. How much cognitive dissonanace this knowledge causes depends on the heart condition of the individual JW.

  I love this angle to debunking the Watchtower Society. You can run around in circles forever arguing doctrine because of its subjective nature, but a lie is a lie is a lie.
  
  The vast majority of dubs will sit on doctrinal concerns - "wait on Jehovah" and all that - but (imo) blatant outright lying is far more difficult to swallow in terms of cognitive dissonance.
  
  I went through some serious anxiety during my own exodus from the JWs. Uncovering the blatant lies of the organization enabled me to immediately discount the Watchtower Society as being "true religion".

  Don't know if they still harp on it, but they used to be pretty anal about lower case w "witnesses" vs upper case w "Witnesses".
